Abstract :Objective To explore the effect of Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) on postoperative pain and wound healing in patients with mixed hemorrhoids. Methods A total of 80 patients with mixed hemorrhoids who underwent external peeling and internal ligation in our hospital from June 2017 to June 2019 were selected and divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Mayinglong Musk Hemorrhoid Ointment after surgery, and the observation group was treated with Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) after surgery. The postoperative pain, wound healing time, postoperative edema and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The visual analogue scale (VAS) scores of the observation group at rest and defecation 7 days after surgery were (1.54±0.21) points and (2.36±0.57) points, which were lower than those of the control group (1.97±0.35) points and (3.14±0.63) points, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The wound healing time of the observation group was (8.14±1.82) days, which was shorter than that of the control group (12.55±2.47) days, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). At 7 days after surgery, the edema score of the observation group was (1.27±0.63) points, which was lower than that of the control group (1.79±0.76 points), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups. Conclusion Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) can effectively relieve postoperative pain in patients with mixed hemorrhoids, accelerate wound healing, and improve anal edema. It is safe and reliable, and worthy of clinical promotion and application.
