To explore the effect of Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) after mixed hemorrhoid surgery, 66 patients with mixed hemorrhoids who underwent Milligan-Morgan surgery were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 33 cases in each group. Both groups received routine anti-infection and hemostatic treatment after surgery. In addition, the observation group was given Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) to be applied to the anus after surgery, and the control group was given placebo to be applied to the anus every 12 hours. The pain levels at rest at 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours after surgery and on the 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 14th days after surgery, as well as the amount of analgesics pethidine and acetaminophen used, and the wound healing time were compared between the two groups. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the VAS scores of pain at rest at 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours after surgery and during defecation on the 1st and 2nd days after surgery between the two groups (P>0.05); the VAS scores of pain in the observation group on the 7th and 14th days after surgery were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the amount of pethidine and acetaminophen used within 1 h, P>0.05; however, the amount of acetaminophen used in the observation group was significantly less than that in the control group from 48 h to 2 weeks after surgery, P<0.05. The wound healing time in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, P<0.05. The results showed that the application of Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) to the perianal area after mixed hemorrhoid surgery can reduce the pain level of patients at rest and during defecation, reduce the amount of analgesics used, and promote wound healing.
