Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) in the treatment of bacterial skin diseases. Methods A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel controlled clinical study was conducted, and ciprofloxacin hydrochloride ointment was used as a control. The ointment was applied topically three times a day for 7 days. Results The clinical efficacy rate was 86.6% in the experimental group and 91.1% in the control group (P=0.289); the bacteriological clearance rate was 82.1% (86.6% in the control group, P=0.358); and the total effective rate was 85.5% (90.1% in the control group, P=0.293). Adverse reactions occurred only in the control group (0.9%), which manifested as mild itching of the local skin. Conclusion Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) is as safe and effective as ciprofloxacin ointment in the treatment of bacterial skin diseases.
