Abstract :Objective To explore the application of Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) in non-surgical repair of diabetic foot ulcer in the elderly. Methods A total of 128 elderly patients with diabetic foot were randomly divided into an experimental group (compound polymyxin B group) and a control group (sulfadiazine silver group) according to the different drugs used on the wound, with 64 cases in each group. The bacterial quantification of wound tissue, wound healing rate and expression of epidermal growth factor were observed and compared between the two groups at 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks after the start of treatment. Results (1) The mean bacterial quantification of wound tissue in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group at 3 weeks after the start of treatment (P<0.05), and was significantly lower than that in the control group after the 4th week (P<0.01); (2) There was no statistical difference in the wound healing rate between the two groups after 1, 2 and 3 weeks of treatment, but the wound healing rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group after 4 weeks (P<0.01); (3) There was a statistical difference in the expression of epidermal growth factor in the wound between the two groups after 3 weeks of treatment (P<0.05), and the difference was more obvious at the 4th week (P<0.01). Conclusion Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment) is suitable for elderly patients whose systemic infection has been controlled but whose local infection is severe, who are of advanced age, have multiple underlying lesions, and who cannot bear multiple anesthesia, surgical debridement, and wound closure after skin grafting. It is a safe, effective, and simple topical drug for the treatment and repair of diabetic foot ulcer wounds.
